PSYCHOTHERAPY

There are many ways that one can benefit from psychotherapy.  In addition to providing  Individualized treatment for anxiety, depression and addiction, therapy can also address many problems of daily living such as job dissatisfaction, problems with relationships, difficulty managing life transitions, coping skills training, loss and grief, self-esteem, stress management and issues related to culture and identity.

TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY

Dr. Fontan believes that psychological health and well-being is much more than the absence of problems, crises and psychopathology.  We all have a set of basic needs that include the desire to feel autonomous and in control of our lives, to see ourselves as competent and productive individuals, and to maintain healthy and supportive relationships with others.  In order to truly thrive and achieve greater happiness we need to continue working towards satisfying these needs. When we feel stuck or incapable of making progress in any of these areas, therapy can help to get us back on track by helping to remove obstacles that may be getting in our way of being better versions of ourselves.

My first experience with a therapist was with Dr. Fontan - overall a great experience. He made me feel comfortable right away and was a great listener, which I presume to be of utmost importance in a psychologist.
